MAJOR | New video angle released in Perry's controversial Game 1 goal and it only raises suspicion
Game 1 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night provided fans with several controversial moments, including Michael Bunting's hit on Erik Cernak and Corey Perry's powerplay goal.
Perry scored while the Lightning were on the powerplay following Bunting's five-minute major and his goal sparked controversy on whether or not it actually crossed the goal line.
Many fans, mostly from the Maple Leafs side of things not only said it didn't cross the goal line, but that Perry pushed Ilya Samsonov's pad. The call on the ice from the officials was that it was a good goal, but Sheldon Keefe decided to challenge for goaltender interference, which was unsuccessful and sent the Lightning to a 5-on-3 powerplay, where they would capitalize once again with only two seconds remaining in the second period, courtesy of Brayden Point.
A new video angle has been released which proves that the officials initial call of a good call was correct and it shows that the puck does fully cross the goal line. Check it out in the video below!
