MUST SEE: Controversial offside goal in the NHL
The referees found a way yet again this year to create controversy.
Yesterday in the Sharks vs. Ducks it was no different and the fans are complaining about it.
The goal was deemed good. The Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler botched a pass going over the blue and stumbled with the puck. Henrique had yet to cross on the right side of the line at that point.
According to the specifications that were brought in after the controversial Cale Makar goal in last year's playoff, a player must have full control of the puck for it to be offside. The debate will have to be brought up again: although the puck was not directly sitting on Fowler's blade, he was in possession of the puck and Henrique had clearly crossed the line already.
The play then continued and led to a goal from Ducks' rookie, Mason McTavish which tied the game.
Even though the rule states that the player must have full possession, another player should not be allowed to cross the blue line before the puck now, should he?
San Jose went on and challenged the call. Lost their bet and they ended up losing the game in Overtime.
