One of the league's top netminders takes a leave of absence
The Minnesota Wild will have to figure a way out of this situation, while their number one goaltender takes some time off from the game. After allowing 6 goals in an OT loss against the Buffalo Sabres, Marc-Andre Fleury announced he'd be taking some time away from the game.
The renowned All-Star netminder hasn't been having the success he had wished for when the season started. This summer Fleury inked a 2-year $7M deal with the Wild in hopes of adding another Stanley Cup to his collection. Though since the season started, things have not been going his way,
After last night's loss, his teammates were unanimous on the fact that Fleury was not to blame in this one.
Later on, Michael Russo from the Athletic revealed that Fleury had been dealing with some personal issues. Fleury being the true professional that he is, he will want to clear everything that stands in the way of him performing to his best.
Even though Fleury blamed himself for the loss, the Wild organization, from the players to the coaching staff, affirmed that the netminder performed to the best of his abilities and wasn't the cause of the team's loss to the Sabres. The Wild currently holds the 3rd rank in the Central Division, can they manage to keep it up while their top goalie steps away from the game?
We wish to send our best thoughts to Marc-Andre Fleury in hopes that he comes back to the game.
