The Panthers' most recent playoff success led by Matthew Tkachuk has raised lots of talks and regarding his draft class. In 2016, Auston Matthews (1st), Patrik Laine (2nd), Pier-Luc Dubois (3rd), Jesse Puljujarvi (4th), and Olli Juolevi (5th), have grown into busts or impactful NHLers. However, known of them has been able to grow into a difference maker the way Tkachuk has been doing it.
A video dating back to 2016 has been trending on social media as of late and it clearly shows what drives the wedge between these regular-season stars and the 'gamer' that is Matthew Tkachuk. In an interview, Tkachuk revealed that he enjoyed watching videos of one of his idols, Corey Perry, who was known for his 'pest' style of play and his ability to score goals on the biggest of occasions:
What seems to be even funnier about it, is that Patrik Laine and Auston Matthews shared a laugh on Tkachuk's comments. It appears that they should've restrained from laughing since the impact Tkachuk has on the game all-around is clearly much bigger than what they're bringing to their respective teams.
I'm sure Matthews and Laine enjoy watching highlight reels from game-winning goals Tkachuk is piling up.
