German National Team Forward Tobias Eder Tragically Passes Away at the Age of 26

The German hockey community is in mourning on Wednesday following the passing of a member of their national team and a recent DEL champion.
German National Team member Tobias Eder passes away at 26
In a post on their social media accounts on Wednesday morning, the German Ice Hockey Federation announced that Tobias Eder has passed away a few days ago after a serious illness.

"The DEB mourns the loss of Tobias Eder. The national player and striker for the Eisbaren Berlin died at the age of 26 after a serious illness. We are stunned and shocked, we are at a loss for words. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends." the German Ice Hockey Federation said.
Eder's professional career began during the 2015-16 season when he played in the second and third tiers in Germany before working his way up to the DEL, the highest division in the country, just a couple years later.
He spent five seasons playing for EHC Munchen and Dusseldorfer EG before signing for Eisbaren Berlin for the 2023-24 season, which ended up being quite the successful campaign for him.
Eder set a new career-high in goals last season for Berlin with 22 and helped them win the DEL championship, their third in four years.
Shortly after the DEL season was completed, Eder was called up to the make his World Championship debut in Czechia where he appeared in three games and scored an empty netter in his first game against Slovakia.
