Foligno was asked how he'll adjust from playing for the Presidents Trophy winning Boston Bruins to the Chicago Blackhawks, who finished with the third-worst record in the NHL last season, he had a pretty funny and accurate response.
Foligno and the Bruins were heavily favoured going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after setting the NHL record for most wins in single season with 65. Ultimately, they fell to the Florida Panthers in seven games in the first round, who sneaked into the playoffs as the second wild card in the Eastern Conference thanks to the Chicago Blackhawks, who defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the final week of the regular season.
The 35-year-old was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks, along with Taylor Hall, on June 26th for defencemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula. Many had expected Foligno to hit the open market less than a week after the trade, but he decided to sign with Chicago for one-year at $4 million USD.
