What would it take to unite the Hughes brothers in Vancouver?
It's the dog days of sports, and everyone is searching for a way to create some excitement in the sports world.
A topic that was always entertaining when the 3 Staal brothers were prominent was the idea of bringing all three brothers to the same team (which never happened). Now, with the NHL's new trio of star brothers-the Hughes-the CanucksArmy has broached the question of what it would take to unite them in Vancouver.
Now obviously, this is a massive pipe dream for a Canucks fan to bring in the captain's brothers to play with him. However, the Hughes brothers haven't exactly been silent on all wanting to play together one day.
Luke said after playing against Quinn for the first time:
«It's something we've dreamt up to one day play on the same team," Luke said. "Hopefully we do that, but I don't know if you really dream about playing against them but over the last couple years, knowing me and Jack were going to be on the same team is pretty cool and knowing we get to do this and play against him is pretty cool."
While not being qualified to make the decisions of the Canucks' front office, one would have to think that a deal like this would drain the Canucks of top picks, top prospects, and Elias Pettersson. It also wouldn't really make sense for either organization at this point in time. For now, all we can do as hockey fans is imagine what could be, and maybe in the future, it will happen.
