BREAKING | Oilers Legend and former Canuck Esa Tikkanen facing charges in Finland

Former Edmonton Oilers alumni Esa Tikkanen was a huge part of the Edmonton Oilers during their dynasty years in the 1980s, helping the Oilers to win 4 Stanley Cups during his time in Oil county.

Now retired from hockey, the 58-year-old has got himself in some trouble in his native country of Finland. Reports say Tikkanen is facing criminal charges for aggravated tax fraud.




Apparently according to the media out of Finland Tikkanen has had $178,000 worth of his assets seized by the authorities in Finland, but that was later reversed. As of now, there's yet to be an official court date set for Tikkanen's hearing.

Tikkanen is one of the best players to ever come out of Finland along side, alongside Teemu Selanne, Jari Kuri, and Saku Koivu. Tikkanen played in 877 NHL games and was part of 5 Stanley Cup teams with 4 in Edmonton, and 1 in New York. Tikkanen finished his NHL career with 244 goals, and 386 assists for a total of 630 points.
