The LA Kings acquired one of the hottest trade commodities from the Columbus Blue Jackets when they won the Vladislav Gavriko/Joonas Korpisalo derby. Now that their season came to an end, Gavrikov is set to hit free agency on July 1st as his contract expires.
The obvious connection between the lefthanded defenseman and the Canucks is fairly obvious, the two parties have been linked in the past, especially since Gavrikov is represented by Dan Milstein who's clearly developed affinities with the team's GM Patrik Allvin.
Seen to be a potential fit to play by Filip Hronek's side, comments that came regarding Gavrikov's contractual situation in the Kings' year-end interviews indicate bad news for the Canucks' hopes of signing the defenceman.
California holds the highest Marginal State individual taxes rate at 13.3%, whereas BC's taxes (provincial alone) are up to 20.50%. Clearly, this isn't good news for the Canucks, if the taxes situation bothers him this much, there is only one way to get it done and it's by overpaying him. Obviously, Allvin isn't really in a position where he can afford to do so.
