Since the Hurricanes' season ended, they've been at the center of almost every trade rumour. Top pick in 2017, Martin Necas has made it known he wanted a different role.
Necas, the Hurricanes' first-round pick in 2017, just had his two best seasons and will be a restricted free agent on July 1st. According to sources close to the team, Necas has informed the Canes that he wants a bigger opportunity and more ice time, something the loaded Canes can't provide him with.
Since then, half the league reportedly inquired about the cost of acquisition for the speedy winger. The NHL insider Frank Seravalli adressed this whole Necas situation on the Daily Faceoff's podcast earlier and dropped a bombshell. According to him, a Necas trade could be occurring before the Stanley Cup Final set to take place on Saturday:
It's common knowledge that the Canucks have already called. Patrik Allvin said he'd be looking to add speed and another offensive threat to his top six, his Necas, the player he had in mind. Reports had the Canes looking for a defenseman. Would Filip Hronek fit the bill? The Canucks can't seem to come to a reasonable agreement with him. Should they consider flipping him for a forward?
