The Vancouver Canucks released a statement yesterday that caused quite the consternation regarding Bo Horvat's future with the team.
Information about Horvat's contractual talks with the team was leaked and obviously, it did not please him. Horvat is a first-class professional and was clear about the fact that he didn't want this to be a distraction to his teammates. He even apologized for the disturbance it caused in the locker room.
"For me, it's just a matter of playing hockey right now, I'm not worried about it, you know, I want to be a Vancouver Canuck and I'm a Vancouver Canuck until they say otherwise."
Here's the integral interview released by the Canucks:
Although every insider has stated that the Nucks were listening to offers on Horvat in order to take the highest bidder, some strongly believe that the Vancouver team will give another shot at signing Horvat:
The salary cap is projected to going up by only $1M at the end of the season, which won't give the Canucks much wiggle room. Unless they move an important contract, it's hard to see how the Canucks will be able to compete with the free-agent market.
