Arizona announced on Thursday that they've placed forward Alex Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
"The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Alex Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating his contract. The Club will have no further comment at this time."
Galchenyuk, 29, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with the Coyotes two weeks ago, which makes this situation very strange.
In 11 games for the Colorado Avalanche last season, the Milwaukee native had zero points but put up 42 (16 goals, 26 assists) in 42 games in the American Hockey League.
