Boston Bruins forward becomes available to the Vancouver Canucks for free in latest waiver wire move
After the Vancouver Canucks placed Erik Brannstrom on waivers today, it may not be the only move they do as the Boston Bruin decided to do the same with forward Mark McLaughlin.
The first time he was available to other NHL teams for free, he was successfully cleared and sent down to the minors where he quickly showed the Bruins he did not belong there.
McLaughlin earned a quick call-up after scoring 10 points in the first 15 AHL games of the season.
the 6'0 ft forward then was not able to stick with the big club, but was above the level of the minors which saw him bounce between the two leagues.
He ended up earning a full-time role with the Boston Bruins at the end of November, but since then he has not been as effective as he or the team would like.
In 12 games this season in the NHL, he has posted 2 points (2 goals) by mostly playing on the 4th line and getting scratched.
McLaughlin seems to be one of those players that is in between leagues, and sometimes for a player to blossom and find their game is a change of scenery with a bigger opportunity, and now that he is available for free, the Vancouver Canucks are always looking for depth players, especially with the amount injuries this season.
The Bruins would clearly like for McLaughlin to clear waivers and get sent to to the minors but there is a good chance that he is snagged up before the waiver claim period ends.
