SIGNING ALERT | Former Canucks forward signs extension with Chicago Blackhawks
A former Vancouver Canucks got a big payday on Tuesday after inking a contract extension to stay in the 'Windy City'.
On Tuesday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that they've signed former Vancouver Canucks forward Jason Dickinson to a two-year contract extension worth $8.5 million ($4.25 million per season).
"Jason adds a unique two-way game to our lineup and his compete level is consistently strong every night," said Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson. "He's showing his offensive game this year, which has been a huge lift to our team. His leadership has been instrumental, and the impact has been evident around the room, particularly with our young guys. We're excited to bring him back and to see him continue to grow with our team."
Dickinson, 28, has already surpassed his career high in goals this season by putting up 14, along with seven assists and 29 penalty minutes in 43 games so far.
The Georgetown, Ontario native spent the 2021-22 season with the Vancouver Canucks, putting up 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 62 games. Just ahead of the 2022-23 season, the Canucks dealt Dickinson to Chicago, along with a second-round pick in 2024, in exchange for Riley Stillman.
