The Vancouver Canucks have officially missed out on one of the top remaining unrestricted free agents on Wednesday after signing with a Western Conference team.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has done a good job this summer to fix up the team's roster ahead of, hopefully, a postseason push this coming season, but if the opportunity came up, there's no question he'd like to add another player to the club.

On Tuesday night, PuckPedia revealed on social media that Swedish forward Victor Olofsson was closed to finding his new home for the 2025-26 season, later adding that he would be signing a one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche worth $1.575 million USD.
"Sounds like UFA Victor Olofsson will be signing a 1 year deal shortly." PuckPedia said.
They added, "The #GoAvsGo are signing 30 y/o UFA F Victor Olofsson to 1 year $1.575M Contract.

The news of Olofsson's signing was officially confirmed by the Colorado Avalanche a short while later, with the expectation that he'll come in to training camp and compete for a role on the team's third line.
"The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today the team has signed forward Victor Olofsson to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season." the Avalanche said.
Olofsson, 30, was a seventh round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2014 and spent his first six NHL seasons with the club, registering a career-high 28 goals in 2022-23, before signing with the Vegas Golden Knights as an unrestricted free agent last summer.
While it's unclear how interested the Vancouver Canucks were in Victor Olofsson or if they even offered him a contract this summer, but he could've been a nice depth piece for the club, especially at a salary of $1.575 million.
On the other hand however, the Vancouver Canucks' forward group is pretty deep as things stand right now, with four or five players competition for a couple of spots in training camp, so there may not have been a fit with the BC club after all.
With less than 30 days until training camp opens for the Vancouver Canucks, the team's priority continues to be finding a legit second line centerman, which will have to come via trade, but there's no guarantee they'll be able to land one and may have to begin the season with
Filip Chytil in that role.
