At 5:38 in the second period of the Blue Jackets-Flyers game, Garnet Hathaway threw a knee-on-knee hit that injured Zach Werenski.

Hathaway was initially given a 5-minute. Central, but after review, it was reduced to a two-minute penalty for kneeing.

Werenski was wincing in pain and slammed his stick in frustration as he needed to be helped off the ice by his teammates. Werenski missed most of last season with a shoulder injury. This will likely put him back on the shelf.
The Blue Jackets updated fans on Twitter (X). Werenski is done for the night with a quad contusion. At this point, the hopes are still that it's nothing bigger. Werenski is an essential part of the Jackets' defensive core.
