A former Vancouver Canucks Assistant Coach is reportedly in the mix for the Head Coaching vacancy with the Dallas Stars following the departure of Peter DeBoer.

The Boston Bruins were the final team in the NHL to fill their coaching vacancy last week when they hired former Vancouver Canucks forward Marco Sturm, but just one day later, a new opening popped up after the Dallas Stars fired Peter DeBoer following three consecutive years of losing in the Western Conference Final.
DeBoer currently sits 17th all-time on the National Hockey League's coaching wins list, so moving on from someone like him isn't easy at all and finding a replacement that can help the team get over that hump and into the Stanley Cup Final won't be an easy task for GM Jim Nill, but it looks like an ex-Canucks coach is on their radar.

The Dallas Stars are just a few days into their coaching search, so they're not nearing a decision by any means as the team evaluates all their options including the bench boss of their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars - Neil Graham.
"Friedman on 32TP says look for Neil Graham's name to be considered for the Dallas Stars head coaching vacancy, he is the head coach of their AHL affiliate who are in the Western Conf Finals. He went deep in the process for the Sharks job last year, he was a finalist there." @NHL_Watcher said on X.

Along with Graham, there will be quite a few intriguing candidates for the Stars to consider, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting on his 32 Thoughts podcast that one name to keep an eye on is Glen Gulutzan, a former Vancouver Canucks Assistant Coach and he even spent time as Dallas' bench boss for two seasons between 2011 and 2013.
"Friedman on 32TP says look out for Glen Gulutzan to be considered for the Dallas Stars head coach job as well, he was the head coach in Dallas for 2 seasons (2011-2013)." @NHL_Watcher said.
The 53-year-old was mentioned as a possible candidate for the Vancouver Canucks' vacancy in early May before they ultimately promoted Adam Foote after parts of three seasons on Rick Tocchet's staff as an assistant.
Gulutzan, a native of The Pas, Manitoba, spent three seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Vancouver Canucks between 2013 and 2016 before being named Head Coach of the Calgary Flames, a role he held for two seasons.
After two seasons with the Flames, Gulutzan moved on to their provincial rival, the Edmonton Oilers, as an Assistant Coach and he's currently in his seventh season with the club, helping them make back-to-back appearances in the Stanley Cup Final.
Hearing that Glen Gulutzan is in the mix for the Dallas Stars job shouldn't come as a surprise to many, especially given the great work he's done with the Edmonton Oilers, so it's going to be interesting to see how everything plays out once the Stanley Cup Final is over and if he'll end up interviewing with Jim Nill.
