When the Oilers won the 2015 Draft Lottery, they knew they'd get something special. Connor McDavid made an impact the moment he stepped foot on NHL ice.

Tonight, the Oilers' 97 added another incredible feat to his accomplishment list. He amassed his 100th assist on the season and joined a concise list of three players who'd accomplished such a thing in the past. McJesus became the first player of the last 30 years to break the barrier.

The NHL issued not one but two statements to recognize the incredible sequence:

Connor McDavid (@cmcdavid97) joins @WayneGretzky (x11), Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr as the only players to register 100 assists in a single season! 💯

100 ASSISTS FOR CONNOR 🍎

Connor McDavid (@cmcdavid97) becomes the first player to record 100 assists in a season since @WayneGretzky in 1990-91!

Prior to tonight's game, the Oilers captain had already scored 31 goals and 130 points in 74 outings. He'll be in the Hart Trophy discussion for the league's MVP. The Oilers have already clinched their playoff spot, and they're now hoping that Captain McJesus can be the key to breaking their Stanley Cup drought.
