As the Vancouver Canucks continue to search the trade market with one day to go until the deadline, a new name has emerged as a potential target for General Manager Patrik Allvin.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, TSN's Pierre LeBrun shared that the Nashville Predators are listening to offers on unrestricted free agent defenceman Alexandre Carrier.

LeBrun added that the Predators are still weighing all options on Carrier including extending him, using him as their own rental or trading him if they get an offer they like.

"Predators listening on pending UFA D Alexandre Carrier. All options remain: sign him to extension (still talking), traded if offer makes too much sense, or he's an own-rental." Pierre LeBrun said in a post on X.

While it's already been revealed that the Canucks' top priority is getting another forward before the 3 p.m. ET deadline tomorrow, it's also been mentioned that if possible, they'd like to add another defenceman for depth and Carrier would be a solid option.

Carrier, 27, has set a new career-high in goals this season and is playing well for a Predators team that is trying to remain in the playoff race. In 58 games this season, the Quebec City native has 19 points (four goals, 15 assists), 34 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.

If he were to be acquired by the Canucks, he could become a cheaper option to eventually re-sign than some of their pending free agent blueliners including Nikita Zadorov (UFA) and Filip Hronek (RFA).
