A former Vancouver Canucks forward was among 22 players that landed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire on Tuesday, with one week to go until opening night.

Last Thursday marked the first day that the National Hockey League's waiver wire was active for the 2025-26 season and ever since, it's been quite busy, with a total of 22 players finding themselves waived by their respective clubs.
Among those on waivers on Monday included four current members of the Vancouver Canucks - Joseph LaBate, Mackenzie MacEachern, Jiri Patera, and Jimmy Schuldt, along with three former players - Phil Di Giuseppe (Winnipeg Jets), Derrick Pouliot (New York Rangers) and Justin Dowling (New York Rangers), all of whom cleared today according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
"Everyone on waivers yesterday cleared." Friedman said.

Highmore, a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in April of 2021 by the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Adam Gaudette and went on to spend parts of two seasons with the club before becoming a free agent in July 2022 where he signed with the St. Louis Blues.
In 64 games with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2020-21 & 2021-22 seasons, Highmore put up 17 points (eight goals, nine assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a plus-one.
New York Islanders fans will find out tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET) whether or not Matthew Highmore is claimed off waivers by another team or if he clears and can be assigned to the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Islanders.
