A trio of former Vancouver Canucks have been placed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire on Monday as teams continue preparations for opening night.
Last Thursday marked the first day of the National Hockey League's waiver wire for the 2025-26 season and it's been quite busy, understandably,
with numerous former Vancouver Canucks being waived by their respective teams in order to be assigned to the American Hockey League.
Over the next seven days, leading up to next Monday - when opening night rosters need to be submitted to the National Hockey League - it's only going to get busier and today, not only did the Vancouver Canucks place a few players on waivers, but we also saw some more former members of the organization land on the wire.
Three former Vancouver Canucks placed on NHL's waiver wire on Monday
NHL insider Frank Seravalli shared today's list of players on the waiver wire on social media, with a total of 22 individuals placed by their clubs in the hope that they will clear and head to the AHL in time for the start of their training camps later this week.
Among the 22 players on waivers today include three former Vancouver Canucks - Phil Di Giuseppe (Winnipeg Jets),
Derrick Pouliot (New York Rangers) and
Justin Dowling (New York Rangers).
"#NHL waivers Monday:
Everyone from Sunday cleared.
Jiri Patera and St. Albert's
Matt Murray are the two goalies on waivers today." Seravalli said.
Di Giuseppe, 31, spent parts of four seasons in the Vancouver Canucks organization, appearing in 101 games at the NHL level and even helped the Abbotsford Canucks claim their first-ever Calder Cup championship back in June
before signing with the Winnipeg Jets as an unrestricted free agent on Canada Day.
As for Justin Dowling, a native of Calgary, Alberta, he spent two seasons in the Vancouver Canucks organization, appearing in 22 games during the 2021-22 campaign, along with 71 down in the AHL with Abbotsford before becoming a free agent in the summer of 2023.
Stay tuned for tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT to find out if these three or any of the four current Vancouver Canucks, are claimed off waivers or if they clear and will be assigned to the American Hockey League.
