Dhaliwal scorches the Canucks: Updates on a possible Ethan Bear reunion
Donnie & Dhali is a show co-hosted by Rick Dhaliwal and Don Taylor. In their show today, they spoke about the Canucks defense.
Rick Dhaliwal began the segment talking about the Canucks right handed defenseman that are on the team; Filip Hronek, Cole McWard, Myers and Juulsen. As well as the team having interest in Ethan Bear, who is currently a free agent, and rehabbing from shoulder surgery.
The lack of defensive options on the right side is a concern for the Canucks, who are hoping to have a strong year and Dhaliwal sums it up why.
"It amazes me is this franchise has not developed a right shot defenseman in the last 15 years...it is just absolutely shocking..In 2019, the Canucks never took a defender in the entire draft...they had 9 picks that year and they didn't take a defenseman..."
To the point of Dhaliwal and Taylor, the Canucks will need to have more focus on defensemen in the draft. It will be interesting to see how Gm, Patrick Allvin addresses it as the team will need to add to their right side to succeed going forward.
