Luke Schenn made quite the impression on Bruce Boudreau during his time in Vancouver.

Schenn played under Boudreau for about half of his most recent stint with the Canucks, and the coach was a fan of the rugged defenseman.
On Riley Cote and Derek Settlemyre's Nasty Knuckles podcast, Boudreau said Luke was one of his favourite all time players, and that Schenn's resilience was impressive.
When you talk about players that have gone through some rough times but persevered and then became a better player as he aged,
Bruce said.
He's probably the poster child.

Schenn was demoted to the AHL a few times in a career that began with a 5th overall selection to Toronto.
Boudreau tells the podcast that one former GM even told Schenn he should find a new job...
Schenn eventually won two cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning and played arguably his best hockey with Vancouver from 2021-2023.
