The Vancouver Canucks are set for their biggest test of the 2023-24 season on Thursday night as they take on the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Arena.

Hours before puck drop, Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced a roster move, sending defenceman Cole McWard to the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks.

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Cole McWard has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL)."

McWard, 22, was signed by the Canucks as an undrafted college free agent back on April 4th after spending two seasons with Ohio State University.

This season, McWard has appeared in one game with Vancouver, recording no points, while putting up four points in 15 games with AHL Abbotsford.

McWard will likely be back in the Abbotsford Canucks lineup either tomorrow night or on Saturday as they take on the Laval Rocket in a back-to-back.
