Brzustewicz has appeared in two of Kitchener's three preseason games so far in September and has played a fairly big role in both contests and it's expected that he'll be relied on heavily during the 2023-24 season.
During a powerplay on Friday night against the Brantford Bulldogs, who've temporarily relocated from Hamilton, Hunter Brzustewicz found the back of the net.
Brzustewicz was at the top of the zone when he received a pass from his teammate Matthew Sop. After getting the puck, he fires it through traffic and into the top corner of the Bulldogs' net.
The 18-year-old had a strong rookie campaign in the OHL in 2022-23 after he decided to decommited from the University of Michigan. In 68 games for the Kitchener Rangers last season, Brzustewicz had 57 points (six goals, 51 assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a plus-eight.
It's going to be interested to see how Brzustewicz tops what he did during his rookie season, but it's safe to say that if he'll be a big part of any success the Kitchener Rangers have this season as they look to win their first OHL Championship since 2008.
