Vancouver Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki is tearing up the Swedish Hockey League with his club, Orebro HK. After leaving Djurgarden IF in the offseason, it appears his decision to join Orebro HK was the right one, and the confidence he's showing early on in the SHL season is great to see.

On Saturday, in a game against Frolunda HC, Jonathan Lekkerimaki scored what quite possibly could be the goal of the year in the Swedish Hockey League.

Lekkerimaki receives a pass at his blue line and skates through the neutral zone before deking around the Frolunda HC defender and putting it home for his eighth goal of the season. Lekkerimaki's tally on Saturday put him in sole possession of the SHL lead in goals.

"Jonathan Lekkerimäki with an absolute beauty today!

He's now up to 8 goals on the season and has the solo lead on destinations in the SHL.

It will be interesting to watch Jonathan Lekkerimaki over the rest of the 2023-24 SHL season to see how his game evolves further. With the way he's playing now, there's no question that he could find himself on the Vancouver Canucks' roster as early as the 2024-25 season.

The 19-year-old also has his sights set on representing Sweden at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship on home soil. It will more than likely play a significant role and potentially be a part of their leadership group for the tournament.
