LATEST | Elias Pettersson makes promising statement on next season: We have yet to see the best of him
Elias Pettersson reached a career feat when he crossed the 100-point barrier, a barrier not even J.T. Miller could pass the season before.
Bruce Boudreau said it early in the season: Pettersson has the potential to put up big numbers, and he expects him to reach the 120 points mark if not 130. The good news on this front is that Pettersson believes in himself big-time, and when he reveals his intentions heading into next season, it may set a new standard across the team:
'I'd like to beat my last year's previous record, so aslong as it's over 102.''
Seeing a confident Pettey in a Canucks uniform may reassure some fans. As he walks into a contract year with the objective of breaking the 102-point record he set last year, how much damage can he do? If he does break his career high and carry the team into a playoff spot, how badly will he break the bank?
Auston Matthews is expected to command a contract with a $13.5M AAV, and even he has never put up back-to-back 100 points seasons.
