There had been rumours that suggested that a trade involving Tyler Myers had occurred over the summer. However, it never came to fruition, and the fans were livid. Now his play and contracts are keeping the Canucks away from the next step.
Frank Seravalli was on Sekeres and Price earlier today and made quite the revelation regarding Tyler Myers and how the Canucks viewed things. According to the insider, there isn't as much negativity regarding his play in the organization. He also addressed those who desperately wish for Myers to be traded out of Vancouver:
Despite being owed only $1M in actual salary this year, Myers still counts for $6M on the team's salary cap. The way he has performed is pushing teams away; the question remains, however. If the Canucks would be willing to retain them on the remainder of his contract, would Myers be tradeable then, with a $3M cap hit?
Even at 50% of cap hit retention, the Canucks would probably have to give up an asset to get him off the team's books. Even though he's registered 12 points and accumulated a +11 rating since the season started.
