LATEST | Interesting development regarding Nikita Zadorov: Defenceman looking for thirty million dollars?

Nikita Zadorov has fit in great since moving over to the Vancouver Canucks, but his stay in Vancouver may not be for the long haul.
Zadorov has averaged over 18 minutes a game in Vancouver and has one assist in 9 games, bringing a massive physical presence to the Canucks back end.
But according to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the 28 year old might see his value as higher than the Canucks do - and most of the league for that matter.
It certainly sounds like listening to Zadorov that he believes he's in a different stratosphere contract wise than I think most of the rest of the league views him,
Seravalli said on the Canucks Army podcast.
Seravalli says that's why the Flames never really considered extending the player, and why the Canucks are unlikely to give him a big deal to play primarily on the third pair.
Zadorov makes 3.75 on his expiring deal, but Seravalli says he expects the Russian to likely seek somewhere between $4.5-5 million on a deal that could be as long as six years.
The Canucks like the player and would love to keep him, but given the relatively minor cost they paid to acquire and big extensions expected to come for
Elias Pettersson and
Filip Hronek, there's a good chance Zadorov finds a new home on July 1.
