LATEST | Miller points out the one thing the Canucks needed to get a good start
It is no secret that last season was very tough on the Canucks. Among many issues, the Canucks came out flat to start the season. They finished the month of October with just 2 wins out of 9 games. This is obviously an unacceptable result for the team.
J.T. Miller has been an alternate captain for the team for a couple years. It seems that the veteran, who plays a gritty but offensive style, has an idea of how the team can come together and have a better start for this season. Miller's opinions come from experience, having played with some successful Rangers teams including a finals run in 2013-14.
..."I used to be a guy that showed up one or two days before camp..."
Miller spoke to Canucks reporter, Kate Pettersen. In his interview, Miller touched on the importance of meeting with the team as quick as possible in order to build team chemistry. Miller said "...I used to be a guy that showed up one or two days before camp...(Now) You want to get out here with your teammates and family and enjoy the nice weather in Van.»
Miller continued by mentioning the team's tough starts the last few years and the importance of making the team environment fun so they can enjoy coming back early and coming together as a team. Miller says "...our starts have been bad the last couple of years so we're just trying to get together as a team & make it fun. Not make it a drag to come back early.»
With the season still a month away, the Canucks will need to hope that the advice from one of their top players gets through to the rest of the team!
