MAJOR | The General consensus is clear: Everyone agrees on the team's new captain
There's been a void in the Canucks' captaincy ever since Bo Horvat was sent to Long Island. Over the summer, there's been lots of speculation regarding who may be taking over, and three apparent names have been circling in the conversations: J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes.
Through different analysts and journalists, the conversation came up today. It heated lots of arguments, but the consensus was that it couldn't be any clearer that Quinn Hughes would be this team's next captain.
''Elliotte: The money is on Quinn Hughes as captain of the Vancouver Canucks.''
''Sportsnet650🗣️"It looks like it's going to be Quinn Hughes."
''Hughes is captain by default.
I can't give it to Pettersson, who may not even be here in a year or two.
Can't give it to Miller because that will guarantee Pettersson isn't here in a year or two.''
Rick Dhaliwal stated on Donnie and Dhali that he had been hearing that Hughes was going to be the Canucks' next captain, even though he believes J.T. Miller should be the man:
Either way, Hughes has significantly grown within the organization over the last few years, and his eagerness to improve and evolve should be the standard for everybody else. Hughes was the author of 76 points in 78 outings last season and was frequently involved in the Norris Trophy discussions.
He's the Canucks leader on the back end, and he's signed a very reasonable contract for four more years. Should he be the bearer of the C for the Canucks in years to come?
