Elias Pettersson played a key role in Saturday night's 2-0 win over the Dallas Stars, scoring a goal which moved him to 20 points on the season, putting him in a tie for first in the NHL with New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes.

After his goal, the National Hockey League's Public Relations X account made a post about Elias Pettersson, saying that he was only the third player in Vancouver Canucks franchise history to reach the 20-point mark in 11 games or less.
"Elias Pettersson (11 GP) became the third player in Canucks history to reach the 20-point mark in a season in 11 or fewer games, joining Tony Tanti (10 GP in 1983-84) and Patrik Sandstrom (11 GP in 1983-84)."

The 24-year-old Pettersson has played a massive role in the Canucks' success so far this season, along with Quinn Hughes, Thatcher Demko, J.T Miller and Brock Boeser. There's no doubt that, at this time, the Canucks are Canada's best team, a statement that was said by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman this past week.
If Pettersson and Co. are able to sustain this run, it'll be interesting to see where they'll end up, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs being their obvious goal for this season after missing out for the past three years.
Pettersson's strong start is also setting him up for a massive pay day next summer when he become a restricted free agent. Talks have been on hold between the Canucks and Elias Pettersson's camp since late-August/Early-September, but it's safe to say that no matter the term on his next deal, he'll be getting over $11 million AAV.
Do you think Elias Pettersson will make more than $11 million on his next contract? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
