The Canucks have assigned forward Josh Bloom to the OHL Saginaw Spirit.

The 20 year old was acquired by the Canucks from Buffalo for defenseman Riley Stillman ahead of last year's trade deadline.

Bloom was competing in his first pro season within the Canucks organization, splitting his 22 games between AHL Abbotsford and ECHL Kalamazoo.

He has struggled to compete at the pro level, and so Canucks management have elected to send him to Saginaw for further seasoning.

The Spirit are currently 4th in the OHL's Western Conference, they will host the 2024 Memorial Cup and feature Michael Misa - the anticipated 1st overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft.

Bloom spent 2.5 seasons with Saginaw before being traded to North Bay last season, he is expected to feature prominently for the Spirit as they pursue a Memorial Cup.
