The Canucks have recalled forward Linus Karlsson and defenceman Mark Friedman from AHL Abbotsford.

Friedman returns to the Canucks after being sent to Abbotsford for a conditioning stint, while Karlsson had been assigned to Abbotsford less than 24 hours ago.


The team is also expected to place Carson Soucy on injured reserve, with Rick Dhaliwal reporting he could miss 3-4 weeks after blocking a shot with his hand.


Friedman returns to the team after scoring a goal and three assists in his four game conditioning loan, the defenceman hadn't played with Vancouver since November 30 prior to being sent down.

Karlsson continues an up and down season between Vancouver and Abbotsford, he hasn't played for Vancouver since January 4 and has yet to record a point at the NHL level, but has 25 in 28 games with Abbotsford.
