LATEST | Rick Tocchet full of praises for team following win over Dallas
The Vancouver Canucks returned home on Saturday night to face the Dallas Stars in a low-scoring affair thanks to Thatcher Demko and Jake Oettinger, both of whom played fantastic.
Vancouver, courtesy of goals from Elias Pettersson and Pius Suter, walked away with a 2-0 win. Thatcher Demko made 27 saves for his second shutout of the season and lowered his goals against average (GAA) to 1.55 in eight games.
After the game, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet met with the media and was full of praise for his team, while also giving credit to the Dallas Stars and Jake Oettinger for playing a strong game.
Tocchet said during his press conference that he was proud of his team to get back on board after they make mistakes and it shows that they have a good team.
"The one thing I love about this group is that if they make mistakes...They get back on board the next day. Whether it's in practice or in the game. That's a sign of a good team."
It's nice to see that Tocchet is hard on the players because he wants them to perform well and when they do that, he praises them to show his appreciation. It seems like the Canucks' management group has picked the right coach in Rick Tocchet to lead the organization back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and to be a contending team once again.
The Canucks will now have Sunday off before returning to the ice at Rogers Arena on Monday night to face Connor McDavid and the struggling Edmonton Oilers for the third time already this season. Puck drop for Monday's game is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET and can be viewed across Canada on Sportsnet.
