After spending the entire 2022-23 season in the American Hockey League with the Bakersfield Condors, former Vancouver Canucks forward Justin Bailey is looking to earn an NHL contract with another Pacific Division team.
On Monday, the San Jose Sharks released their training camp roster and among the names on there was Justin Bailey, who has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the team.
Bailey, 28, spent parts of three seasons in the Canucks organization between the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, appearing in 19 games within Vancouver where he failed to record any points. He had eight penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
The Buffalo native found success in the Canucks organization while playing in the AHL, putting up 47 points in 53 games with Utica in 2019-20 before recording 27 points in 30 games with Abbotsford during the 2021-22 campaign.
Along with Bailey, the Sharks have signed former Canucks farmhand Tanner Kaspick to a PTO. Kaspick appeared in 20 games for Vancouver's AHL affiliate in Utica during the 2020-21 season, tallying five points, 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-two.
