The Vancouver Canucks have been on the look out for a right-shot defenceman for a little while now but were able to add one in a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins, receiving Mark Friedman.

While Friedman's name isn't flashy and isn't likely to play a major role on the Canucks' blue line, he's been quite effective during his brief time with the organization so far, playing alongside Ian Cole.

So far, the pairing of Mark Friedman and Ian Cole have been together for seven games and have not given up a goal against.

"Friedman has been a huge find for Canucks. He and Ian Cole haven't given up a goal in 7 games together as a pair." Dan Riccio said in a post on X.

In those seven games this season, the 27-year-old Friedman has put up one assist, nine penalty minutes and is a plus-four. With the Canucks still reportedly looking for another defenceman on the right-side, it's unclear what Friedman's role could be with the team if they're able to trade for or sign another blue liner, like Ethan Bear for example.
