LATEST | Vancouver Canucks surpass big mark during Monday's win over Rangers
The Vancouver Canucks continued their road trip on Monday night as they took on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden and it was a fantastic game from start to finish.
Thanks to a four-point performance from Elias Pettersson, two goals from Nils Hoglander and 39 saves from goaltender Thatcher Demko, the Canucks walked away with a 6-3 win.
Monday's victory marked the Canucks' 25th regulation win of the 2023-24 season, something they didn't even reach during the 2022-23 campaign, as pointed out below by Dimitri Filipovic. Last season, the Canucks only had 24 regulation wins all season, and now they've reached 25 in 40 games.
"Canucks last year: 24 regulation wins in 82 games
Canucks this year: 25 regulation wins in 40 games"
There are several reasons for the amount of success the Canucks have had so far this season, especially the play of their top players - Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko - as well as the depth they have up front and on the blue line.
The Canucks have a long way to go in the 2023-24 season, but they are certainly heading in the right direction in order to snap their current playoff drought. They'll be back in action tonight as they take on the New York Islanders at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET on Sportsnet Pacific.
