Story breaks out of an interaction between Tocchet and his players: Shows how much they respect him
Canucks head coach, Rick Tocchet, was unhappy after the 3rd game vs the Flyers. Tocchet called the team "soft" and was unimpressed with a 2-0 loss.
Tocchet said it was "alarming" to see the lack of competition from his players. The Canucks had a challenging game, only recording 26 shots.
Following the game, Tocchet spoke about some bright spots, including one of his players he would not name.
"I'll be honest with you...a player came up to me, and maybe last year he wouldn't have...and he said, 'Hey, I thought I was pretty good out there,' and I didn't play as much in the 3rd period.'...he was right."
While it is unsure who the player is, it is interesting to see Tocchet agree with one of his players about a line-up decision; it is a good look at his coaching tactic and why players enjoy playing with him.
