Adam Foote Reportedly Receiving Serious Interest From Teams For Head Coaching Role
It is now official that Former Vancouver Canucks assistant coach Adam Foote is reportedly receiving interest from teams around the NHL for a head coaching role starting next season.
Earlier this week, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Rick Tocchet was moving on from the organization to pursue other opportunities around the National Hockey League.
Many were curious what this meant for the rest of the Canucks coaching staff and yesterday,
Rick Dhaliwal reported that Adam Foote's contract is up and that he has been given permission to speak with other teams in the NHL.
Insider says Adam Foote receiving interest from teams for head coaching role
In a post on X on Thursday morning, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported that sources have told him Adam Foote is receiving "expressions of interest" from teams in the NHL for a head coaching position and that he's expected to begin interviews shortly.
"Sources say former #Canucks assistant Adam Foote has received multiple expressions of interest in head coaching opportunities and interviews are likely soon to follow." Seravalli said.
Foote, 53, joined the Vancouver Canucks in January 2023 as part of Rick Tocchet's staff and played a key role this season in the team's penalty kill, which ranked third in the entire National Hockey League only behind the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils.
Seravalli went on to share that if Adam Foote is unable to land a head coaching job in the National Hockey League, which many believe he's ready for, then people should expect him to reunite with former Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet, wherever he may land.
"When you heard
Quinn Hughes rave about Rick Tocchet in Vancouver, a big part of that was the coaching staff that Tocchet assembled around him, including Foote. Sources indicate that Foote - also a free agent - has already received expressions of interest in head coaching positions and is very likely to interview for multiple openings. He appears poised to make the jump. Foote's playing career as a decorated defenseman speaks for itself. If Foote somehow doesn't land a job, expect him to reunite with Tocchet - where he lands - for at least another year." Seravalli said.
The Toronto, Ontario native doesn't have a ton of head coaching experience aside from a one-and-a-half year stint as the bench boss of the WHL's Kelowna Rockets, but his time in the National Hockey League during his 18-year playing career speaks for itself and he knows exactly what it takes to win, which would make him a solid candidate for a HC role.
