Adam Foote's time as an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks appears to be over after a report came out on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vancouver Canucks announced a change behind the bench on Tuesday afternoon with the departure of head coach Rick Tocchet following parts of three seasons as the team's head coach.
Many have been wondering what Tocchet's departure means for the rest of the coaching staff and it looks like we have the answer for at least one of the team's assistants.

Adam Foote granted permission to speak with other teams

In the aftermath of Rick Tocchet's departure from the Vancouver Canucks, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali is reporting that assistant coach Adam Foote's contract is up and that the club has given him permission to speak with other teams around the National Hockey League.
"Adam Foote's contract is up - I believe he has permission to talk with other teams." Dhaliwal said on X.
Foote, 53, joined the Vancouver Canucks at the same time Rick Tocchet did during the 2022-23 season and it marked his first coaching role in the National Hockey League after parts of two years as the bench boss of the WHL's Kelowna Rockets.
During Wednesday's episode of Donnie & Dhali, Steve Mountain, the agent for Adam Foote and Rick Tocchet shared that he's had brief talks with the Vancouver Canucks and that the future of the former NHL defenseman behind the bench is to be determined.
"To be determined, I have had brief talks with the Canucks." Mountain said according to Rick Dhaliwal.
Foote did a fairly good job during his tenure with the Vancouver Canucks and this season, he was in charge of the team's penalty kill, which finished at 86.2 percent - third best in the entire National Hockey League only behind Carolina and New Jersey.
With there being seven other coaching vacancies around the National Hockey League, there's no question that the Toronto, Ontario native will be able to land a spot on the bench with another organization.
