But according to Canucks reporter Irfan Gaffar, an injury - or injuries - could be having an impact on that.
On the Canucks Army podcast, Gaffar said that Hughes lost his magic in the playoffs but that it's only a matter of time before we hear about an injury to the Canucks captain.
At least one, that is.
Gaffar said explicitly that the Nashville series took an "absolute beating" on Quinn Hughes as the team targeted him physically.
With Hughes playing at less than 100% and Pettersson failing to play to his best, the Canucks were doomed, according to Gaffar.
While it's hard to look at any of this as good news, Canucks fans can take some solace in the fact that an injury hampered their best player's performance and not shrinking at the moment.
