NHL makes it official for Rick Tocchet and the Jack Adams Trophy
From the moment Rick Tocchet took over the bench from Bruce Boudreau at the end of the 2022-2023 campaign, everybody knew things were going to be different.
Different how? Nobody knew then, but the coach brought his mentality, his culture and his leadership abilities along with him and absolutely transform the franchise. The Canucks ended up having one of the best season they've been able to ou together in the last decade and Rick Tocchet sure had lots to with it.
The NHL announced at the end of the season their nominees for the league's different awards and Tocchet was involved in the Coach of the Year (Jack Adams Trophy) conversation. Per the NHL's announcement earlier today, Tocchet was officially named as the award's recipient:
Rick Tocchet is the 2023-24 recipient of the Jack Adams Award as the @NHL's top head coach.
Tocchet is the third Jack Adams Award winner in @Canucks history, following Pat Quinn (1991-92) and Alain Vigneault (2006-07).
Tocchet systems, cultures and leadership were important difference makers in the Canucks' success over the last season. Now that the team has gained experience, we're hoping to see that same vibe and energy next year. Hopefully, it leads to an even longer post-season run.
