Canucks announce their fourth round selection: Potential steal of the draft
The Vancouver Canucks have announced who they've taken with the 125th overall pick and they may have gotten a steal.
In a social media post on Saturday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks have announced they've selected forward Riley Pattersson from the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts with the 125th overall pick.
"Meet your newest member of the #Canucks, Riley Patterson!
#NHLDraft | @ToyotaPacific" Patterson, 18, joined the OHL's Barrie Colts last summer after being traded to them by the Flint Firebirds. He was initially committed to playing for the NCAA's Michigan State University, but decided to play in the Ontario Hockey League instead.
The Burlington, Ontario native had plenty of success with Barrie in the 2023-24 season, playing primarily alongside Utah Hockey Club 2024 first round pick Cole Beaudoin, both of whom will form a lethal duo again next season as the Colts look to compete for an OHL championship.
In 68 games, Patterson had 62 points (29 goals, 33 assists), ten penalty minutes and was a plus-seven. He went on to add three points (two goals, one assist) in six OHL playoff games.
