Quinn Hughes is coming off the first Norris Trophy of his young career after putting up 92 points in 82 games during the regular season in 2023-24. The Canucks captain also had a strong showing during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, registering ten assists in 13 games.
As we head into training camp in a couple of weeks, players around the league are returning to their city to prepare and among those doing so recently was Quinn Hughes, along with a number of other members of the Vancouver Canucks.
In a recent interview with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre, Quinn Hughes set a big target for himself for the 2024-25 season, saying that he believes he can score 20 goals, after having 17 last year.
Hughes was also asked if thinks he could reach the 100-point mark this season, saying he's not sure but will be aggressive be every night trying to push his team over the finish line while trying to contribute offensively.
The Orlando native also touched on his Norris Trophy, saying that once it sunk it that he won the award, he thought it was pretty cool, but is focused on the season ahead and believes his game will be better this year.
If Hughes is able to reach 20-goals this season, he'll be only the second defenceman in Vancouver Canucks history to hit that mark, following Adrian Aucoin who had 23 during the 1998-99 campaign.
Hughes and the Canucks will return to the ice for training camp starting on September 19th in Penticton, British Columbia. They'll then head to Seattle to take on the Kraken for their first game of the preseason on Tuesday, September 24th.
