The Vancouver Canucks have followed through on their threat as they have decided to healthy scratch former 1st-round pick and top prospect Victor Mancini
against the Winnipeg Jets tonight.
It may or may not come to a surprise that head coach Rick Tocchet is deciding to give Mancini the ole' press box treatment as just last game Captain Quinn Hughes showed emotion like we have never seen before.
Hughes went off on Mancini, showing intense frustration that many speculated could be the end of his time with the big club.
I think Quinn Hughes wanted the puck on this play.

When they played against Utah a couple days ago, Hughes blew up on Mancini for not giving him the puck, and his choice resulted in a costly turnover.
It is uncertain if this specific play was the reason for him getting pulled out of the lineup tonight against the Winnipeg Jets, but when the best defenseman on your team, maybe even the entire league is open and asking for a pass, you give him the puck.
Maybe the most unfortunate about this whole story of Mancini getting scratched is that he went above and beyond for a young Canucks fan, inviting him to tonight's game to get a stick signed and to meet him personally after the youngster bought a game-used stick and showed extreme excitement.

It may be disappointing, but the fact of the matter is that the Canucks are in a tight fight for the last wildcard spot in the West, and Rick Tocchet has to do what is best for the team during these final games of the season.
