The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they will be having to make a last-minute roster transaction with rookie forward Linus Karlsson just days after putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

After being drafted in the 3rd round, 87th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks, Karlsson's path the NHL has not been as easy as others, but he finally is making waves, forcing the hand of the Canucks to keep giving him looks in the NHL.
Due to his strong play, Karlsson singed a 1-year, one-way contract extension for the 2025-26 season where he will earn league minimum at $775,000.

For most players, it takes time in the American Hockey League to translate their impressive junior games to a professional level, and at 25-years-old, Karlsson appears to be finding his groove.
He has netted 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points in just 30 games, achieving an over a point-per-game average.
Patrik Allvin commented on Karlsson, saying he earned his shot and contract as he has worked hard down in the AHL and has proven to them that he's capable of competing in the National Hockey League.
"Linus has worked very hard on his development the past few seasons in Abbotsford and has also shown he can compete at the NHL level. He has good size and hands around the net, and we really like the way he competes on the ice." Allvin said.

With the recent bad news about Filip Chytil's potential career ending 5th concussion, and head coach Rick Tocchet surpassingly announcing that Conor Garland will be out after getting "banged up" over the weekend, the Canucks have recalled Karlsson to the big club on an emergency basis.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Linus Karlsson has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) under emergency conditions.
With only 1 assist in 9 appearances for Vancouver this season, Karlsson looks to jump into the lineup once again and show his elite offensive talent at the worlds best stage.
