Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini opens up on his development
Vancouver Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini is hoping to play big role for Boston University during the 2024-25 season.
The Vancouver Canucks and their fans will have their eyes on Boston University for another year as a pair of prospects are set to suit up for their second season with the NCAA school.
After losing in the National Semifinals to the eventual champions, the University of Denver, Vancouver Canucks prospect Tom Willander and Aiden Celebrini are hoping to take the next step next season and win it all for Boston University.
Recently, Aiden Celebrini sat down with Kevin Woodley of NHL.com to discuss his path from junior hockey in Canada to Boston University. Celebrini said that his first year with BU, he was trying his hardest to prove himself and earn minutes on the blueline with how loaded their defensive corps was.
He added that he gave him a challenge, but he eventually was able to earn his way into a regular role in BU's lineup and is hoping to play a bigger role in his sophomore season.
"That's been my journey throughout junior hockey to getting a college scholarship," Aiden said. "It's always been trying to earn it and having to prove myself. Having such a loaded defense corps, it presented a challenge trying to break out. I had to earn my way into a regular role. I didn't just have a few good games and that was it, I was in. I had to battle it all year."
Vancouver Canucks Development Coach Mike Komisarek was asked for comment on Aiden Celebrini and praised the young defenceman for his effort and enthusiasm, adding that you can't say enough about the kid, which must be great to hear coming from a former NHLer.
"Talk about enthusiasm and effort," Komisarek said. "We preach to these guys to get involved, to get engaged, to seek out the coaches, to get to know the staff, to recognize the armory of people behind them. Aiden is at the forefront of that.
"You can't say enough about the kid."
Celebrini, Willander and Boston University will begin their quest for a National Championship on Saturday, October 5th as they host Holy Cross.
