Canucks prospect pumps up team following big win in Memorial Cup
The 2024 Memorial Cup got underway on Friday night as the hosts, the Saginaw Spirit, took on the Western Hockey League champions, the Moose Jaw Warriors.
On Saginaw's roster is Vancouver Canucks prospect Josh Bloom, who has had quite the eventful 2023-24 season. Earlier in the season, he was playing in the ECHL and the AHL before going back to the Ontario Hockey League for the remainder of the year and joined the Saginaw Spirit.
During the opening game of the tournament on Friday night, Bloom scored early in the third period in what would stand as the game-winner, as Saginaw took the win by a score of 5-4.
After the game, Bloom spoke in the Spirit dressing room, pumping up his team following the big win. Bloom said that he was really proud of this group for sticking together and pulling out the victory.
"Like I was saying, tons of highs and lows throughout that game, but we got through it, stuck together and leaned on the guy beside us and I'm really proud of this group." Bloom said.
Bloom and the Saginaw Spirit will back in action on Sunday night as they take on the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. Fans can watch the entire tournament on TSN across Canada.
