Carolina Hurricanes Latest Move Could Indicate It's JT Miller's Last Night as a Vancouver Canuck
While Miller has not requested a trade, it appears less likely than ever that the relationship between team and player can be salvaged, and with a deal with the Rangers collapsing, the Carolina Hurricanes may now be the top suitor for the feisty center.
On
Monday's episode of Donnie and Dhali - The Team, Canucks Insider Rick Dhaliwal mentioned two Hurricanes forwards as potential targets for Allvin and the Canucks, and they don't exactly represent the exciting return Canucks fans are hoping for.
24 year old centre
Jesperi Kotkaniemi, he would make sense for the Canucks, Canucks really liked him in his draft year. And UFA forward
Jack Roslovic is a player the Canucks have liked in the past... the Carolina talk is picking up this morning
The Hurricanes were mentioned by Elliotte Friedman as a team to look out for in Miller talks, and Dhaliwal says he'd be a great fit under head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
A look at a potential Carolina Hurricanes return
Jesperi Kotkaniemi was picked 3rd overall in 2018, 4 selections before
Quinn Hughes, and while showing flashes at times throughout his young career has struggled to take the next step offensively on both the Carolina Hurricanes and the Montreal Canadiens before them.
This year the 24 year old has 19 points in 46 games.
Jack Roslovic was signed to a one year contract worth $2.8 million this offseason, and has fit in great with the Hurricanes scoring 17 goals and 25 points in 46 games.
The 27 year old is a UFA following this season.
The Hurricanes also boast some solid prospects like
Bradley Nadeau,
Scott Morrow, and Alexander Nikishin - though it's unlikely they'd part with the latter.
The Hurricanes also still own both their 1st and 2nd round picks in each of the next three drafts.
A recent move has indicated that JT Miller could be having his last night as a member of the team as the Hurricanes have scratched Jack Roslovich and Jasperi Kotkaniemi for tonight's game vs the Chicago Blackhawks.
It appears that the news of Roslovich and Katkaniemi being scratched tonight has changed as they are indeed in the lineup.
The Canucks are still looking to move Miller and the Hurricanes appear to be of major interest, but it may not come as soon as tomorrow as previously indicated.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide Vancouver Canucks fans with the latest updates on JT Millers departure.
